St. Patricks Day
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi Everyone! We will be back in Culebra (Our 4th year in a row) from 3/14-3/21. I was wondering if its possible to get a case of Guinness on the island? We were down last year this same time and I couldn't find any. Can you help a good Irish lad out?

Contact Richard and Luz at El Eden. They have a wide selection of beer and wine (although I have never seen Guinness), and may be able/willing to special order for you.

Happy Diving!

Best to bring it with you. If you're taking the ferry to Culebra, ask your taxi driver to stop at a store and then tip him with a six pack.

Hola! As I've constantly advised, take advantage that you're on the island and drink local. Drink the local beer, Medalla which is produced by Cerveceria (Brewery) India. They just let a big group of employees go and if the economy does not improve, maybe India will shut down and no more Medalla. If you drink enough Medalla, you'll see Leprechauns anyway, LOL!!! Also try the local rum, just ask in the stores in Culebra what's made on the island and, enjoy. Happy travels! J

Debbie - Thanks for the info on El Eden. I will give them a call tomorrow!

Mort - We are flying into Culebra and won't going outside of SJU Airport while we're on the mainland.

Jeannie - We will have a whole week to drink Medalla and local rum! Medalla was all we drank last year. I just wanted to have a pint of Guinness on St. Patrick's day. Chances are if I get an entire case I will have some to share!

We agree to check with El Eden! We only discovered this store and restaurant the day before we left and they carry a very good selection of drinks as well as delicious gourmet food. We ordered an outstanding variety of sandwiches from them for our last meal while we were packing and would love to try dinner there on our next visit. It's such a quaint, funky store that we devoted a whole page in our photo album to it. You can see a variety of the beer they carry in this photo: http://honeymoon2.smugmug.com/gallery/7064351_huyff#452770578_26pmc

And we concur about how good of a beer Medalla is! All of the Bud drinkers in our family have found their new favorite beer and wish they could find Medalla in the States - one more reason to return to de islands! Here we are, toasting with our new friends from PR who ferried to Culebra in order to spend the day on Flamenco:

Have a great St. Pat's Day, Marty, we'll toast a Guinness with you, alashas

I just spoke with someone at El Eden and she informed me that they no longer carry Guinness. Actually, she said that it's hard to find Guinness anywhere in Puerto Rico! Oh well. I will just pour some coffee into a Medalla! Thanks to everyone who responded!!
