November is a great time to go (avoiding Thanksgiving week of course!).
The first half of December is also a great time to travel and is a personal favorite of mine.
Mid Jan to mid March is also a good time (avoiding holiday weekends).
Sept and Oct are possibly the least crowded time to go. There is an increased risk of hurricanes, but the odds are greatly against one happening while you're there. And trust me on this... If you do happen to be on an island during a hurricane, it will be an adventure, a lasting memory, and a story you'll tell for decades.
So don't rule out Sept and Oct. (Though Sept seems to be when many commercial establishments choose to take a break.)
