Culebra : Ferry and Flamenco Beach

Hi, I'm planning my first trip to Culebra dec 28th to Jan 1st. I was wondering how the ferry wil be like, we'd like to catch the 9am. Will it most likely to be crowded ? Can we buy our tickets on the 27th, or should I just arrive at the ticket office early (when does it open) ?

In Fajardo, we heard about the Seven Seas beach which offers campsites. We only land in San Juan at 7pm, will the campsites offices be closed by the time we get there? If so, can we just find a spot and pay in the morning?

On the island, we'd loove to camp on Flamenco Beach. Can anyone advise on the safety? Can we leave our passports in the tent ?

I strongly suggest that you study all the threads in the last month or two that discuss this topic, just so that you can see all your options when the ferries are very crowded.

The time that you are going is one of the most crowded times of the year, just like it would be at DisneyWorld or any other warm weather destination. So everything you read in threads about July will apply to Christmas/New Year's week.

It's impossible to say whether you would be able to find tickets on the 27th in order to travel on the 28th. But I'll say this... I sure wouldn't count on it.

And 9am ferries are always the most popular. You will probably find a seat eventually, either later that day or even the next day.

If you know a local, have them buy your tickets in advance.

Absolutely, since I'll be arriving in Fajardo on the 26th, I'll go get them right away.

That will improve your odds considerably!
