Hola! Jeannie you are right culebra’s progress depends on not just what government official’s can or can not do, but, also what the community is willing to give. The community can only give so much, I do not know when was the last time you came to culebra, but the only organization that has been helping out a 100% is CORALations, teaching these young adults about the environment. And so you know Jeannie the municipality of culebra hates Marian of “Coralations” and I have heard it from the officials of the municipality and from DNR, she is the only one that has the guts to say something when it is wrong. And another thing is, you elect the officials of the municipality so they can make a difference and so they can help the communities create organizations, but we have a government that dose not even let you use the facilities because the director of sports doesn’t fell like it. I have tried to create events for the kids of the island, but I have been refused by the director of sports “Rosalinda”, and her response was that the island is in a crisis and she was ordered by the mayor to close the facilities by 6:00pm. If you could only imagine how many people have gone to the mayor asking for help, and the help is not asking for money, to create activities and his response is talk to “Dolly” she is the coordinator of activities. Many people have talked to different representatives in the mayor’s office and what’s being done nothing. I know Sports and art are the best medicine and entertainment for these kids. We can make a difference because we are in Culebra, but we need the help of the municipality to make this happen.
