Visit to Paradise
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi,

We are returning to Culebra for another wonderful visit and bringing our family this time. Just cant wait to get lost in the wonderful beaches and peopleWe are looking at getting a car for a few days then a scooter or bike then a boat. Ive honestly searched the forum for several hours but cannot seem to find a few critical pieces of info for our trip. Would like to collect as much info as I can for the family

1. How long is the ferry trip from Fajado? Are the ferry times generally reliable?

2. Ive seen the scooter rental places on this site, but not details about the rentals. How much are they? Different companies have different rates? What is the size, power, one person or two, gear rack, pictures?

3. What are the bike rental deals? Hourly or daily? How much? Multi-speed?

4. Like to rent a dingy for a day or two. Seen the listings, but no info on type, size, power, rates, etc.

Any info or link would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!!

http://www.theculebracalendaronline.com/

http://www.culebra-island.com/CulebraIsland/Transportation/Transportation.htm

http://www.tamarindoestates.com/thingstodo.html#JEEP

These are sites that can give you some phone numbers so you can get the most updated information

The first one is a local newspaper and on the far right is a list of most things located on the island with phone numbers.

Hope this helps

The scooter place is located at the airport and one is located across the street and just up the road from the airport

Thanks Tricia!

I managed to find most of the info w/ your help.

Still would like to find an inexpensive place to rent a dinghy for a couple of days. It's my dream to park at the Dinghy Dock with my own boat for an evening of laughter and song...

Any private folks that might rent their boat out? How about a sailboat rental?

Cheers!!

Ain't bad indeed. I think this site is incredibly the best. So entertaining, too! I want to meet the urban legend of MJ, live from the cart. Get an autograph and maybe a bumper sticker. Still working on the iguana info, haven't forgotten about it. I've been trying to contact government officials but, it's soooo slow and now with all these problems about the Governor, Anibal Acevedo Vila, ay, ay, ay. It makes the governor from NY look like a saint. I hope everything works out OK. Culebra seems to not feel any of this. The whole world should be like Culebra, the Utopia. Happy travels! J

jeannie - you do NOT want to meet MJ in person. I haven't and likely never will.

From what I understand she has all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile. </smirk>

I have always considered the "lady of the cart" to be much like the "Dread Pirate Roberts" in the movie "The Princess Bride".

If I have to explain it, it won't be that funny.
Heck, even if I don't have to explain it, it won't be that funny.

Micheal,
I absolutely love this site! Referred to those websites for Grant because I knew them from off the top of my head. I agree this forum has tons of information and with a little search most answers can be found.

Yes, it's all true....

I've read most of the posts for the past 4 months and searched the site links since I posted my questions and found the ferry and some scooter info. Still looking for more detailed info on Dinghy rentals...Might I have to call the places directly? Do I have to speak Spanish?

Tricia's links saved me hours of time and I appreciate it...hope to return the favor somehow.

Thanks for putting the site together Micheal, it's been a great asset for those wishing to share a slice of Paradice.

Cheers,
J&T

Tricia, I was not taqlking about the forum - I know most people do not search and that is fine. What I was referring to is the info in the remainder of the site. I believe we are the only site that actually has the dinghy info (or the link leading to it), that J&T is looking for under todo - boats. And yes, in Culebra it helps to call :) - more than once :P

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael,
Opps...I did know about that site and forgot to include. And yes there is much more info. on this site than just what is found on the forum. Great job keeping it up and running.
