Iam planning to be in Puerto rico late April. I want to visit Culebra, but in the forum i read so many contradictory opinions regarding lodging, mosquitoes, Mamacita's. Iam going by myself was hoping to go with a friend both it will be solo. Just as well Iam going through a rough 20 year marriage and need some R&R. I want to go the beach mostly and tan and rest. Perhaps, iam hoping i could find some souls to chat up my nights there since nitelife is minimal. Where do I stay. Should i go to mainland also? I will probably arive in San Juan around 1:00 am, so i have to probably sleep the night in there any suggestions? Should I rent a scooter, car or bike? I would much like to rent a skiff. It sounds like fun! Should i fly or ferry in? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get back to me , so I could make reservations. Gracias hasta pronto.

Hi Jose,
Jeeez.....
Definately camp on playa flamenco. Plenty of social opportunities in the eve in Dewey. I would stay in Fajardo ( heard great things about Fajardo Inn) the night before ferry to simplify. I didn't fly so I can't offer my opinion on it. Don't worry about what people say about Mamacita's, its pricey (I think) but Saturday nights are pretty fun with Conga drumming, dancing etc. Scooter would be fun and easy. Dont worry about bugs, maybe just little gnats that a little repelent would take care of. No resevations needed for camping. Hope this was helpful!

Hi Jose,

I would definitely recommend renting a skiff at least for one day. Being on the water in Culebra is an amazingly beautiful experience.

Enjoy!

Jose,

We can take care of your boat rental and lodging needs. Culebra Boat Rental has motorboats, including skiffs. I am sending you an email about the boats and how to make a reservation. In the meantime, you can get more info at www.culebraboatrental.com.

I am also sending information to you about Casa Ensenada, Culebra’s premier waterfront guesthouse (and see www.casaensenada.com)

Looking forward to meeting you in Culebra,

Butch (and Jackie) Pendergast
