AHHH, that is island life for you, VERY laid back. I have asked myself that question many times, not only about Culebra but, about the rest of the island as well. I don't want to open another can of worms and get the answers I received the last time: "Since when did "progress in tourism" become the goal for Culebra?", "Culebra can only support so many visitors at a time and sometimes that number gets overwhelming for our infrastructure.", If Myara's or the Superetta are out of what I'm looking for, well there's always tomorrow", and so on. So what if you have been planning your vacation to Culebra for months, have paid reservations for hotel and rental car, arrive to Fajardo only to find out that the ferry has been canceled due to inclement weather and to fly over to the island it's going to cost you $50-60 but you can't because there are 100 people ahead of you on a waiting list in the same predicament! Of course, this can happen to you anywhere anytime, but if you are stuck in Fajardo or Culebra you are stuck. Or they could increase the number of flights in and out... The only airline I know of that added 1 flight to their itinerary was MN Airlines out of Fajardo. That's life in Puerto Rico for you. Happy travels! J
