We loved John's Publico to Fajardo

For transportation from San Juan to Fajardo (and back), we chose John's Publico, and would do so every time. He lived in the states for a long time so he speaks great English. He was polite and on time. Informative whenever we asked questions. Heck of a nice guy. Family man. His email is johnspublico@yahoo.com.

Hi! Glad you had such good luck getting to Fajardo! I have sooo many stories about "getting somewhere" in Puerto Rico, all funny now, but not so funny back then! I think this time when we go (mid April '08) I want to attempt the publico but I am leery of the time spent on the road between San Juan airport and Fajardo. Can you give me a little more info on fares and how long it took? There will be three of us with minimal luggage each (1 carry-on & 1 backpack). Thank You!

In my experience, fares seem to range from $65 to $80, regardless of number of people.

It takes 50-60 minutes.

I do recommend reserving one in advance for peace of mind. Be sure to keep their number with you so that you can call the day before (both directions) to remind them to pick you up.

If you have only two people, it's not that much more expensive to fly, and it's a lot faster and easier. For one person, it's definitely cheaper to fly, or at worst the same price.

Johns publico was $65 one way, we tipped him up to $80. It was worth it. It took about an hour. He was very dependable. We flew back all the way to SJU on Isla Nena. Hector (the pilot) was awesome, he schlepped our baggage all the way from the commuter tarmac to the American Airlines check-in. Damn good pilot, too.

Erin,

We also used Johnspublico services, our plane was delayed for 1 1/2 hours when we exit the baggage claim there he was with my name on a sign, he was very polite and he spoke very good english. On our return to the International we had some time to spare and he took us thru Pinos I hope thats the way its call the costal side and it was a great ride. Mort its true if your only one person flying is your best bet, we are 5 in our family and we made the right choice in using Johnspublico.

for sure, it was very reassuring to see john, have him swoop in, shake my hand and take our bags. there was a sketchy looking character outside our hotel saying he would take us to fajardo if john was late. he was giving me the creeps. John showed up 2 minutes early and had us packed up and out of there in under 2. left right on time at 7:30 am. he's the bomb!
