Traveling with kids for one day
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi everyone!

I will be going on a day trip to Culebra during the second week of October (either Wed. or Thur.) with my wife and 2 kids (10 and 1). Is Flamenco beach my best bet? Any other recommendations? Also, is renting a car a must?

Thanks!

For a single day, Flamenco works best, and requires no rent-a-car. On a weekday in October, it should be very uncrowded. There will be public transportation vans meeting you at the ferry dock (assuming that is how you are coming) or you can flag one down in front of the airport. I assume the beach kiosks and/or Cocnuts Grill will be operational for your lunch - can anyone else verify this? Next trip - Allow more time!

Doug

the only time I've seen the kiosks closed was on New Year's Day (but I would assume other major holidays).

and yeah more time next time.

Yes, I agree. I wish I could stay overnight. I might be able to swing it since we are going to be on the main island from the 8th to the 17. We will be taking the ferry, so I'll keep an eye out for the vans. My biggest concerns was that the beach kiosks would not be open. So that is good news.

Thanks!
