Overall Pricing (mid-class 4ppl family)
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi everyone here of "Isla Culebra", i'm both new to this forum and to Culebra's tourism. I'm actually puerto rican (San Juan) and i know a bit of Culebra but not enough to plan for any vacation there.

My Question is what is the overall cost for a mid-class 4 people family, to enjoy enough activities w/o going expensive.
like what is the cost for camping on Flamenco's beach per day/night (and if it is the only beach where you can camp), the food (kioskos), transport etc.

I'm the one putting the money of my family, and i'm talking about $300.

I have done the math and for ferry transport only there is a $40 if the trip is from S.J.-Fajardo-Culebra one way(go and return, and by 4). And the camping tent is at least $80)

I will thank any help,

I bet you can do it, gotta be careful, but what will cost you is transportation (to and from the ferry, stores and beach). the kiosks are good for lunch or snacks, but not dinner.

A little family thing in a tent on Flamenco? sounds great. bring a deck of cards. and recall the stories your grandparents told.

or make up new ones.

from what I've seen, families try to bring as much as they can carry - you do not want to be out there at 2 in the AM with a hungry kid.

Thank you Richard for helping me out, i appreciate it very much
; but you didn't me answer if Flamenco is the only camping beach.
I say this because i know June-July is a very busy season and i would like to know if there are another alternatives to this beach(for camping).

I've never camped there so others will have to fill you in on the actual details.

But since you are coming from the main island on the ferry and are budget conscious, I will say, take as much as you can food-wise and remember cooking facilities are minimal on the beach. If something is needed, I'd avoid el Eden - quite nice for high end stuff, but no bargain.

the place across the road from them and the one on the hill have the general basics at ok (for Culebra) prices. (I always forget the names) and they're all really a very short walk off the road the publicos use to Flamenco. of course if a ferry just came in, the vans may be full before they leave the plaza.

I guess it's like cognitive mapping - I can take you there, but I can't tell you how to get there...

Colmado Milka is across the drawbridge and down the road to the right. It is about 100 meters down on the right. When you return across the bridge, go straight up the hill and Maya Suprette is on the right on the downslope on the other side.

A little advice... If you have an SUV Vehicle such an a Montero/Nativa/Trooper or that type of vehicle you could really look into bringing it on the Ferry to Culebra..It will be way cheaper in the long run than to rent a car or pay $2 (Per person)each time you want to go from the ferry to Flamenco or from flamenco to any other place in Culebra.

If you leave the car at Fajardo and carry your Tents, bags, beach chairs, coolers...they will charge you extra per item.. sometimes 2 or 3 dollars per item depending on what it is..At the end you end up paying close to what you would have paid to bring your car with all that stuff inside..Plus it will be more comfortable since you wont have to haul all that stuff yourself..Plus you have the advantage of freely moving with your vehicle through Culebra..So you can go to other beaches other than Flamenco.

Anyways you would have to pay around $8 per day to leave your car atthe parking in Fajardo.. When you add up all those cost is way better to just put the vehicle in the ferry, bring it with you ,use it in Culebra and then bring it back.

Camping at Flamenco is $10 per night per tent and they will charge a minimum of 2 nights...even if you just stay 1 night.

Oh thank you everyone; and thanks fjtom for suggesting me that of bringing the car to the ferry. My mother has a trooper and i think it would be best, so thanks for that.

that is a good idea fjtom.

there's only the one gas station but I've never used more than 1/4 of a tank in a full week.
