yes, it is pretty thorny, we were hiding in the shade close to the beach in the bushes, and we were all covered in thorns, hard to get out of clothes, and pretty painful...so you definately better off on the beach. there is widelife, and there is no need to disturb it. we saw a deer when we were walking to Carlos Rosario
