January Mosquitos & Rain
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I am seeing a lot of references to mosquitos and rain here. I have been to several islands and rarely bothered by bugs or extended rain or clouds.

I am planning a January Culebra trip but this has me worried. Can someone give me a clear picture of the bug and rain situation. I live in a place where mosquitos rule the world in the Summer, so what some people consider buggy might not be bad to me.

Someone mentioned deet, that sounds like a real mosquito presence.

I find that the mosquito situation is greatly exaggerated. It isn't something that you can't live with. I know this because my parents live on the island. It's worse at night, as it is most anywhere.

The mosquitos are a problem shortly after it rains but within a few days the problem disappears. Besides, Culebra is one of the places in Puerto Rico where it rains the least amount...to the point where it can be a problem sometimes. You certainly shouldn't consider rain and mosquitos a deterrant to planning a trip to Culebra. You will love it.
