Yes. Yes. and Yes.

My favorite shore dive is Punta Soldado. You can drive right down to the "beach"; gear up, and wade in. Be sure your rental company allows you go to drive on dirt roads. It's a shallow dive in a fairly protected cove, and you can do some really long dives there. The coral itself is not in great shape, but it's a sanctuary for juveniles. Once I saw a squad of squid - baby ones; hundreds of them; 4-6 inches long about 1/2 foot below the surface. Extremely cool. We have also seen eagle rays, eels and a myriad of fish. You could also drive-up and shore dive at Melones Beach, although I haven't gotten around to that one. I love snorkeling there. There's some nice shallow reefs at Flamenco and of course, over the hill at Carlos Rosario, but that's not worth schlepping the equipment, in my opinion.

You can rent tanks and weights from Culebra Divers, or from Mini Mas (check to see if they rent weights. I am not sure about that). Also check with Taz at Aquatic Adventures.

Enjoy!

Happy Diving!
Debbie
