Camping @ flamenco
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I am planning on camping @ Flamenco Beach in March with my fiance. I was wondering if there are lockers or something to lock valuables in (cameras, wallets) if you leave the beach for the day or if that's not really an issue.

Thanks
Sarah

Dear Sarah:
I visited Culebra 3 yrs ago and during that time they did not have locker. But they have light at night and you should provide yourself with plenty of sun protector cream and mosquito repelent. The sun is very high there and be carefull not to walk too far from the beach, especially on top of the rocks. They wave are unpredictable. Many person get kill in there. Eve and Adams culture are not allow and there are penalties with the law. There is always Natural Resource employee at the beach supervising the natural floral of the Island. Have fun; but remember, protect your self and other especially those who live there.

I have the same question- have you found out yet if there is a locker somewhere?

just got back from culebra. we camped at flamenco, great time. we just put our stuff in the tent and left for the day, no problems. take travlers checks, and find a creative place to hide stuff if you are worried. one thing i might suggest is to get a 2nd i.d. card(you can get a state i.d. at the bmv). keep it in a seperate place, if your wallet/purse goes missing at least you will be able to get home without much problem.

have fun
