rental cars on ferry

we will be spending between 3 & 10 days in sept. 2006 on culebra. we have heard that rental cars from san juan are uninsured if you take them off the island and ferry them to either culebra or vieques. any feed back on this suject would be helpful

I think, the best approach is to find out from the individual rental company and/or insurance company.

I have taken rental cars across and remember to have asked the rental company whether that was ok. I used Charlie's in Condado.

It also really depends on your length of stay, whether it is worrth the hassle.

Lastly I recommend a search in this forum on the subject matter - it has been covered a lot :)

Despite insurance, the hard time you'll have with the cargo ferry is not worth, it pays to rent a car in Culebra.
But... some people like to have hard times, instead of relaxing, and taking a good memory from their vacation.
Even for locals is a very hard time.
