Thanks to those who provided cellular coverage info but I have not seen Nextel mentioned. Does anyone know if that service works on Culebra?

No it does not! I have had to learn the hard way. Thinking of taking my plan over to Sprint.

Enjoy Culebra!

Don't jump ship yet! I have a trick for you to try that may help us both. I recently learned that because of the nextel/sprint merge we all have access to all the service towers from both companies. What I didn't know is that you need to "adjust" your nextel phone to pick up the Sprint towers. Try this, hit #,*,menu, right arrow in that order and quickly to get to a menu that begins with "unit info". If you don't get that menu, you didn't do it fast enough. Scroll down until you see "Err/Chan cod". If it is highlighted "on" then turn it off. If it is highlighted "off" then turn it on. Then hit end. In a few moments you will see some new letters and numbers below your signal strength meter and if it's like here in the Boston area, you will have much better service. I have an i305 but my wife has a different phone and I've showed this to other nextel users with different phones and it's worked for all of us so far. Good luck and please let me know if it works.

I am afraid I jumped ship yesterday. The reason I went to Nextel in the first place was the incredibly bad customer service from my previous provider (Sprint). Not much has changed in their treatment of customers.

Yesterday I ported my number to a company that actually answers the phone 24/7, I can use the same phone all over the world ... Anybody need a Sprint phone? - Yes I bought one just prior to my ship jumping, because I was thinking along similar lines as you ..

Let us know whether your trick worked in Culebra!

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael
