Culebra Beach Villas - web site?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I need some help. The web site that I used last year for Culebra Beach Villas is nowhere to be found now. If I remember correctly, it was culebrabeachvillas.com. Even when I click on the icon on the culebra map from this site it doesn't work. Does anybody know anything about it.

Thanks, Steve

Just got back from staying at Culebra Beach Villas. It was a very nice, quiet place to stay. Here's the deal: there are 15 or so small concrete villas. We stayed in a studio-type unit- I think they have larger ones too. It is not luxurious, but it is clean. And the proximity to the beach makes it worth it-- there are only two places on the beach and the other is a 3-story condo-type complex (which looked extremely nice and clean-- I think it is called Villa Flamenco). We did not want to stay in a condo though, so it is just a matter of personal preference. There are chickens all over the property, so you will be awkened to crowing!
There is one restaurant on the property- a small beach grill which does not serve alcohol (but will add yours to the drinks there). they are very nice and friendly at the grill and food (mostly burgers, sandwiches and fish) is good. However, they do close a couple days a week and then you need to go to town for food. We shopped at the grocery store and cooked in the room- there is a cooktop and fridge in the rooms. It takes about an hour to walk to town and cabs are not very reliable. So you will probably want to rent a car, which is expensive but probably worth it. We originally intended to rent scooters or bikes, but the dirt road to Flamenco Beach is very bad, so you really can't.
So if you ask whether I would recommend it: the answer is yes, IF: you don't expect luxury and you don't mind the inconvenience of not staying in town. If you are the kind of person who wants to sit on the beach and read a book, or swim, or hike, you will probably like it there. If you are the kind of person who wants to be waited on, or wants to be able to easily walk to everything you will probably not like it.
good luck!
