Cell Service Playa Flamenco
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello All,
My family and I will be staying at Playa Flamenco for about a week and we'll need to make arrangements for flights (from SJU) while we are camping. We fly stand by so we can't make arrangements ahead of time. Is there cell service at Playa Flamenco? We have ATT for cell and data.

Anything else we should know about camping there? We hope to bring a fair bit of our food to avoid spending on prepared foods but that will require ice for storage. Do the food shacks sell ice or will we need to bum a ride into town?
Is there electricity to charge our devices? Do the showers actually work? (Well enough that you'd want to sit next to us on the plane rides home? lol!) Will we run out of things to do if we stay 5 nights? Kids are ages 9-17.

Thanks so much for any advice!

Cell service is very hit and miss at Flamenco.

There is no internet at the campsites, HOWEVER, in the toilets there are outlets, should you wish to charge late at night. Just be aware that your device may walk away you leave it there unmonitored.

You may get bored after 5 nights. It just depends on how much the family likes camping. You can always spend a day at Carlos Rosario by hiking from the Flamenco parking lot. That might help break it up a bit.

Good to know about electricity in bathrooms. Thanks!

Are you aware if there is someplace in town with consistent cell coverage?

Kids are awesome campers (average 90-130 nights a year) and we planned to snorkel at Carlos Rosario and also walk to Resaca and Brava.

My biggest concern is cell coverage because I need to monitor flights to make sure we can get home. Also checking in for flights at the exact minute helps for stand by travelers!

You should be able to find some spots that have coverage at Flamenco. It just may take a bit of effort (At least it did when we were there late last year). Cell coverage is good all throughout town, though.

The cell service was fine everywhere we went on Culebra including Playa Flamenco. The trail to Carlos Rosario is now open. It seems the project is over, even though not complete, as they've run out of money.

We had a great experience and could easily have spent more time there. Thanks everyone for the information and advice.

cell service is excellent at the top of the hill at the observation deck looking over Flamenco. it's just a hike to get to.
