camping with kids
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi- this is our first trip to Culebra; we're bringing the kids and I'm wondering what how much to bring with me, or should I mail stuff ahead of time, or rent?
Has anyone every mailed camping supplies ahead of time and if so, how was that experience?
Should we buy snorkel equipment and bring it with us?
Is it easy to get cooking supplies in town i.e. charcoal, pots and pans, etc... or should I mail this stuff?
Thanks for the information- it's appreciated!

We have mailed stuff to ourselves with no problem. Be sure that it is insured, just in case it goes astray. How far ahead depends on where it's mailed from. East coast of US can be about a week. If you have snorkelling equipment, I would just mail it as part of your package. My memory is that you can send up to 70 lbs in a package and the rate is quite competitive with the airline excess baggage charge and the VAL/Flamenco Air baggage charge.

You can get charcoal, lighter fluid etc. at the grocery stores We have been able to get small bbqs at the hardware store across from the airport but there have been times when they weren't available. We haven't bought pots and pans but have seen them at Mayra.

Thank you, very helpful. I live in Vermont, so if I mail everything 2 weeks prior to my arrival in Culebra- you think that will work? Any other advice around camping at Flamenco would be really appreciated!
Thanks again,
Dani

We have never camped so someone else will have to help you with that.
