Honeymoon/Wedding in Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I am planning to get married and honeymoon in Culebra. There will be four additional guests with me.

We plan to stay in San Juan before we venture to Culebra.

Please recommend a place that will accommodate a nice, clean, comfortable, and pretty place for sleeping quarters, and also the perfect island to have a wedding.

What is a cool place to eat after we say I do?

Thanks for any information you can give me!

A nice place to eat is Club Seaborne
Fun places to eat: Mamacitas, Dingy Dock
Place to stay: Casablanca Condo (Of course I'm a little biased here)

Hi,

I saw your message and just have to ask, how have you made plans to be married on Culebra? My fiance and I are looking for information on getting married there. We have not ever been but it has been highly recommended. Are you going thru a church or the local justice of the peace? Even some of the hotels have not been able to get us in contact with the right people.

Please put me in touch with the right person to help me move this along and give my bride her dream wedding.

Many thanks,
Robert.

Wow, it looks like we are on the same page. I must tell you it seems like a trial and error. I have been talking to this service at www.idoweddings.com. or you can email cathie nyman at cathie@onthemovevacations.com.

For starters we are doing two things. There are hotels in Puerto Rico that can arrange a wedding, like the Wyndham, Marriot, The Water Club, etc.

We plant to do a beach wedding. I was told Flamenco Beach in Culebra is one of the prettiest. What week are you guys planning to wed? I will send you the information I have gathered so far.

Let's keep in touch.

Club Seabourne seems to be able to do everything for your wedding. They will assist in in making all of the arrangements, flowers, etc. You can certainly hold a reception or dinner there as well. It is not on Flamenco but it is a short 15 minute ride away. It is a lovely property. The rates however, are the same as if you were in San Juan though. It is not as affordable as pretty much every other place on the island. For a wedding and honeymoon though it is probably your best bet. They have a website, I believe it is www.clubseaborne.com. Good luck!

I am from Culebra but currently live in the State of Tennessee. If you guys need any information about Culebra feel free to email me. My family were one of the original settlers on this island, grandmother and mother were born in Culebra. So I have many contacts and I will be retiring in Culebra in a few years.

Hi, Ed,
We are planning to spend 3 nights on Culebra and want to stay at Flamenco Beach. I've only seen 3 listings for hotels on that beach, the Villa Flamenco Beach, the Isla Bonita, and Culebra Beach Villas. CB Villas got a bad rap from a forum reader, so I'm wondering if you have any information to share? Thanks! Jeff and Cynthia

first of all, i spent eight glorious days in culebra during the spring and making a return trip in january.

best beach, hands down, zoni beach. gorgeous, quiet, not overrun with tourists. not a quick ride like flamenco from town, but so worth it. i would definately get married there. you'd basically have the beach to yourself, depending on the time and the time of the year. have fun!!

If anyone is still looking for info for great places to stay/eat in Culebra or San Juan- feel free to email. There is only one resort that is actually ON Flamenco beach (it is protected land) Flamenco Villas-. None of the "resorts" will be fancy, that is not the style of the island. It is the island itslef, the beaches, the views and the people that are amazing. I do have info on a private rental just up the hill from Zoni, with amazing views, a pool and room for 6 to 8 people. It runs about $300/day last I checked.

Anyone looking for an absolutely breathtaking experience in Old San Juan must visit the Gallery at Galleria. Wow.

Good luck!

My husband and I were married on Culebra nearly 17 yrs. ago. We had nearly more than 50 guests , many who came for the week leading up to the wedding. It was not a fancy affair and it was difficult to make all the arrangements ( the cake and flowers had to be flown in from the main island) but it was a singular event! One many friends and family still talk about!

We were married in the Catholic Church in town, after a trip to Fajardo for blood tests! It was a bi-lingual ceremony. Afterwards we walked to Marta's restaurant near the main dock for an outdoor reception complete with a band and plenty of rum! WE left our reception after midnight...it was still going strong! One of my fondest memories is that the entire island celebrated with us. It seemed that everyone knew we were getting married and people would stop to wish us well and congratulate us.

We haven't been back to Culebra since the early 1990's although I spent every summer and Christmas of my childhood there. My husband, daughter and I are thinking about a quick visit over the holidays...any suggestions on where to stay? So much has changed but the good stuff remains the same!

Good luck with your Culebra wedding.
Pam Hickok

Hi Rebecca,
I don't know if you found the information you need to be married on the island, but I wanted to say that John and I went to the Catholic church in town the last time we visited. Everyone was wonderful and happy that visitors came. On our last visit I loved the rooms on top of the hill called Ba Ha Marina.(I think that was the name), Someone correct me if I'm wrong. They were closed at the time. It was last October. But they had a small pool and beautiful turquoise wicker furniture outside near the bar. Really nice. You may be married by now and if so, Congratulations. We are plannig on visiting soon. Cindy

If you still haven't gotten married yet and are considering Culebra, let me know and I can give you information on who to contact. My husband and I were married on Flamenco Beach in December and it was perfect!

I have been looking all over to get info on planning my wedding at Flaminco Beach but it has been a disaster. Most of my family lives on the main island and they have had a hard time recieving info for me. I would like to find a justice of peace to perform the ceremony. If anyone can help give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it!
