Spearfishing
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello Everyone,

I will be in Culebra for the month of August and i will be doing some spearfishing.
My question is, which kind of fish do you recommend fishing for? I only want to catch what i can eat, and in the permitted areas only, so definitely not Tamarindo.
Most likely will be away from tourists and early morning. Im thinking grouper or snapper? Also, are lobsters protected or can them also end up on my grill?

Thanks!

Guillermo,

for lobster you need a sling. I do not know about the law, but shooting them before you know whether they are female and have eggs is a serious no-no.
Use a sling and a tickle stick.
For any kind of fishing you need a license!

Enjoy Culebra!

Micheal,

So i guess i won't be doing any fishing then, i don't have a license and def don't want to break the law.

Thanks for letting me know.
