Honeymoon June 14th-20th

So I will be coming to Culebra on my honeymoon, June 14th to 20th. We have never been out of Florida so we have to idea what to expect!

I imagine that most of our time will be spent at our condo =) and the beaches but I wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations on places to go, either here or San Juan. We are not to much into snorkling/fishing, but we do like historic landmarks and other out door activities.

We were thinking about taking the ferry to San Juan and spending the whole day there once or twice during the week.

Is there alot of nightlife in either location?

Also, we will be staying here: http://www.cyberrentals.com/rental/p146958
Have you ever been? I am curious as to what it is like.

Thanks!

Hi Chelsey. Congrats on your engagement. Neither of you have ever been out of Florida? That's amazing! Well, you're in for a treat.

Since you're spending almost a week there, you'll benefit from spending a few hours looking through past threads on this forum. There's lots of info in them.

Flamenco Beach is a no-brainer. It's one of the most beautiful in the world. Walk across the hill from Flamenco for superb snorkeling at Carlos Rosario. Definitely buy your own mask, snorkel and fins if you don't already own them. You can buy them cheap at Amazon or Wal-Mart, etc.

It's a very big production to get from Culebra to San Juan for the day by ferry. Definitely not worth the effort. Virtually your entire day would be used up just going back and forth (unless you fly, and that's kind of expensive). Instead, spend time in San Juan either before or after Culebra. You won't want to leave Culebra anyway.

There is not a lot of nightlife. There are a couple bars that sometimes can get festive.

People don't go to Culebra for wild partying... They go for the beauty and tranquility, and to get away from the hectic world. I think it's perfect for a honeymoon. Just relax and be romantic.

Thanks for the info! Especially the ferry, I never knew it would be such a production. We will be landing on San Juan so maybe we will check it out when we land and go from there.

I am not sure. My grandmother is paying for us (I guess she knows the people that own it) online it says a little over 1,000$ for a week, but I don't think she is paying that. They normally don't rent in June.

You should think about doing the bio bay inn fajardo.

i would suggest the one in Veques, but it wouldnt be easy to get there and return.

if you are in san juan over the weekend, try Pinones. lots of people walking around and good local food.
Pinones is less than a 10 minute drive from the airport(sju).

I second Frank's Pinones recommendation. Great open-air clubs, restaurants and bars. Live music.
