Thank you all for your tips. This website is incredibly informative.

We are planning to visit Culebra and rent bicycles for transportation. Is it possible to see most of the island this way? We are in pretty good shape but not super athletes. Any advice about good places to rent would also be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Matthew

Biking is a great way to see Culebra! Making the trek to Playa Soni is best in the early morning, as you will be in direct sun for most of the ride, and bring water and a picnic, because you won't find any 'services' when you get there (Tip: the ride back is easier, don't give up). Punta Soldado, past Fulladoza Bay(Club Seaborne) is also a great ride, best in the afternoon or around sunset and close enough to town and other nice 'Happy Hour' spots. Don't forget your camera! Enjoy!

You can rent from Culebra Bike Shop, they are just at the edge of town, next to Dinghy Dock restaurant. If the owner isn't onsite she will leave a phone number you can call (cell phones are best, as pay phones sometimes don't work, and many hotel rooms don't have phones.)

It was $15/day in the offseason, and I comfortably covered pretty much the whole island. A few roads may end in dirt paths which you'll have to hike.

The ride to Zoni Beach was 1 1/2 hours each way, 4 water bottles total. Very pretty ride; also Melones Beach near town is a very nice ride. The island is hilly and that turns out to be fun, because you don't always have to climb them, just walk, and then you get to cruise down.

The best way to see the island, in my opinion, with scooters a close second.
