San Juan to Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi everyone! Firstly, I am new to this site and I am so thrilled about it. It has provided me with so much info on Culebra/Vieques.

Secondly, I will be going to San Juan May 14 - May 21, 2006 and am really considering going to Culebra for a day trip. I was trying to get there with the High Speed Ferry, but they only operate this route b/w December-April(darn!).

What other choices do I have? I've heard about the Fajardo Ferry but I do not want to go all the way there. I'd rather go by small plane but I do not know much about getting around in Puerto Rico. I'll be staying at the Hotel Miramar and would love to find an easy, inexpensive way to get to Culebra from San Juan.

I apologize before hand if this has been asked before.

Thank you kindly,
Gus

Hi Gus. Not sure where Hotel Miramar is, but you can hop a flight from Isla Grande Airport in San Juan to Culebra.
Check out Vieques Air and Flamenco Air, these are the two that most folks take from Isla Grande.
If Hotel Miramar is closer to the San Juan Intl Airport, you can try Isla Nena as well as the two above. Although it's less expensive to fly from Isla Grande. About $100 or so roundtrip.

Good luck with your planning!

Kris

Hi Gus! I am going to be in San Juan that very same week! I've also been looking into a fast way to get to Culebra from San Juan. (We're actually staying in Dorado.) Do you happen to know how long the ferry takes to get from Fajardo to Culebra? It definately seems like the least expensive route, but I don't want to spend an entire day on a ferry!
Thanks!
Erin

Erin,

The ferry from Fajardo to Culebra takes about 1 1/2 - 2 hours, dependent upon the weather, and the speed of the ship (some are faster than others).

Happy Diving!
Debbie
