Hi,
Me and my fiancée are planning to be in Culebra for our honeymoon. And right now we have two options for places to stay:
a.) Buceo : Which is a studio apt with a view I think
b.)Tamarindo beach cottages

Kindly suggest which one would be better?
Also, any other suggestions for places to stay will be welcome. Our budget is around 150 per ngt.

Thanks....
Hoping to hear more on this
Regards
Appy

I have stayed at Buceo many times, and in the interest of full disclosure, through my visits there have become very close friends with the owners. It's a nice one room (think studio apartment but much bigger) structure with a huge closet and private bathroom. No tv, no phone, no distractions. Resident lizards, dogs and cats. It has one of the island's few swimming pools, and a beautiful view of the harbor and great breezes. You will need air conditioning at night during the summer as the it doesn't catch good cross breezes. It's private and secluded, and you only share the property with the owners (a couple with no children).

View from Buceo (on a clear day such as this one, you can see all the way to Vieques):

Hope this helps. Good luck!

My husband and I have stayed at Tamarindo Estates for the last four years and I must say it is a wonderful, very pretty and quiet place to stay. We have not had any problem with mosquitoes there and it is fairly breeze as the wind funnels back from the west into the rooms. Besides, their bedrooms are air-conditioned and and doors and windows are screened. They always have at least one resident manager on site to assist you. With some other rentals, if something breaks down in the rental room, you would need to call somebody from outside for help. This year after dining at Mamasitas our rental car would not start. The rental car people were unavailable on the phone at night, so I phoned Luis from the Tamarindo staff, who graciously drove to town and got the car started for us. This was very good service, for which I am very grateful, even though it was not Tamarindo’s responsibility to deal with this problem.

appy,

I have eaten in the restaurant when Ricci there, and the mosquitos were pretty bad while we were eating. To be fair, mosquitos are prevalent across the island at dusk and dawn and one could have the same experience at any one of the restaurants. I hope you will search this forum for all posts on Tamarindo before making your decision.

Regards,

Happy Diving!
