Would anyone be kind enough to list average prices of meals at:
Juanita Bananas, Mamacita's, Barbara Rosa's, and Dinghy Dock?

Thanks,
Caroline

I would say that the average meal price is close to $13.00pp that is not for fancy meals.

Juanita Bananas was overpriced w/small portions. Food was good & setting was lovely. Barbara Rosas, across from Willy's jeeps was very good & inexpensive...$52 for 5 adults...BYOB. El Eden was great for sandwiches for the beach, but order early. If you don't you'll have a long wait

Mamacitas is great for lunch! Portions were large enough and prices were reasonable, average $10 per person

... dinner however is a problem. There are too many people and wait lists are ridiculous. My suggestion is that you arrive early (around 5.45pm), grab a table and order early, then head to the bar for fun. We did the opposite and ended up drunk and starving and having dinner at 9pm after a 2 1/2 hr wait

I would not recommend dingy dock, service takes forever, it's quite expensive, and the food is less than ok... the other places were fine.

Mike;

I desagree with you is just that dingdock have became popular for lunch and dinner and when the island is full you have to with for service i had 2 wait 2 hours just for a table. It does not happen all the time is just depened how many people are in the island it is high season now!

Dinghy Dock has 'island time' service, but the people are really nice and there wasn't a wait for lunch when we were there. I don't mind waiting when I'm sitting by the water and there are these wonderful views all around. They have a nice, very inexpensive wine list - by the bottle also - and wonderful desserts!
Mamacita's has fantastic food. There's a wait there for dinner - but if you go expecting to sit at the bar and have a couple drinks, it's fun to watch and talk with people. I figured, what else did I have to do! It's where everyone is at night - in town eating. We had 'Red Snapper Sweet Potato Soup' and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. (if you go early I don't think there's as much of a wait)
For breakfast I would definitely recommend the bakery.
We had inexpensive snacks at the beach during the day - pinchos and empanidillas - and then used our food money for a nice dinner. I think the prices on the island are really good. Especially compared to San Juan. I was impressed because I thought they could have raised the prices since there weren't many places to eat - but it's very reasonable. Very good value for the money.

I have had great experiences at all of the above, and some mixed reviews for some of the same places - personally, I loved Juanita bananas, it is a bit pricier but excellent prearation and fine ingredients - good ambiance when Iwas there all three times.

Dingy dock can be slow but yes, it is isalnd time and I have had some terrific meals there. Someimtes gert interesting bar crowd and fine musicians visiting. Mamcitas likewise some good meals - I really miss the breakfast they used to offer, and I have had some service problmes there including once getting the tip added to the bill for me by an absolutely terrible waiteress.

barbara Ros'as is also a favorite: casual setting, nice owners, good but not overly fancy food - good portions. Very enjoyable overall.

The last few years, I have regretably had mixed luck at Seabourne, but I have great memories from past trips and always give them another try. they will get there.

last year, El Eden had terrific sandwiches and an unbleeiveabley good selection of fine wines - hard for many of us to believe - hopefully it has not changed.

Culera has variety - far more than it did when I began traveling there in 93, and the range is actually pretty excevptional for an island this size - be grateful.
