Flights to Culebra

This forum is great, I have to say. So much needed info!

I'm looking at our options to go from Isla Grande airport - Culebra - Viques - Isla Grande. Since we want to maximize our time on Culebra and Vieques, we're leaning towards flying. Air Flamenco is the only airline I've been in touch with, and I have to say, they've been extremely helpful - all via e-mail :-) So far, I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I'm a little worried, though, about our flight to Culebra. Do airlines usually cancel flights if there aren't enough passengers? We're doing all morning flights, too... We don't mind if it's delayed for a while, but what's the average you've had to wait if there aren't enough passengers? We're traveling the last week of Feb/first week of March.

Thanks for any input!

One thing you can do is ask if they have a enough reservations to do the flight.

The last few years, I think all the airlines have improved immensely on promptness. The worst I ever waited was until 1030am on an 8 am flight from Marin to Culebra. this was because the fuel truck lost their paperwork and the fueling was delayed.

I don't see them delaying for long periods from Isla Grande; they might delay a Marin flight to accommodate a late connection. If you are on the late connection, you'll be glad.

Enjoy!

Feb/March is "high" season. There will likely be plenty of people flying. That said, we have been flown to Culebra as the only two passengers on Air Flamenco. They honor their reservations. As Doug said, we've been delayed by island time, but never left behind.

Happy Diving!
