Credit cards

I am wondering if the local restaurants and grocers take credit cards? Or is it better to bring lots of cash? What would an average meal out cost? Nothing too fancy, just a main course, one drink and a desert.

Yes, they take credit cards, although Discover is not widely accepted. Average meal is probably about $15-30 using your example.

One thing to keep in mind: sometimes a credit card company will see a charge outside of the continental United States and freak out ... thinking somebody has stolen your card and put a stop on it's use. It's a good idea to call them ahead of time and tell them you are going ... otherwise you end up at the Dinghy Dock and they tell you your card has been rejected. (Not that the waitress believed me when I told her I wasn't maxxed out!)
