Where to stay?
Culebra, Puerto Rico

My boyfriend and I are going to Culebra the beginning of December and we aren't sure where to stay. We would like to stay in Flamenco (preferably on the beach but not necessary depending on the place) and need a kitchenette. We are in our late 20's, not high maintenance, and are there to snorkel and enjoy the beach. Does anyone have any recommendations? We need to book soon. Also, any suggestions for diving companies for certified (me) and non-certified divers (boyfriend)? Gracias por toda su ayuda!

Best Dive Op is Culebra Divers. http://culebradivers.com/ Do you want to get certified, or are you going to snorkel or just ride on the boat? They only have a small boat, so you may not be allowed to ride along if you are not a paying customer. If you are interested in getting certified, Walter is the greatest - you would love having him as your instructor!

Happy Diving!

Tonya-

Although we have not been on the trip yet (we are going in February), we have booked Villa Arynar as a place to stay. It is a small B and B with only two rooms so you get a lot of special treatment. They give you snorkel equipment, towels, chairs etc. for use on the island. Plus, you can rent a car from them. Check out their web site: www.arynar.com. We spoke with the hosts and they sound wonderful. They also recieved a rating of best B and B in a carribean magazine a few years back.

We accidentally ended up at Casita Tres Amigas (through Vacation Planners, right near the ferry dock) this summer and had the best couple of days I have ever had on a vacation. There are two little "houses", one of which is like an efficiency apartment, with just one room and a small but complete kitchenette. It was tiny but utterly romantic. Next door is a larger house with separate bedroom and living area. Both are in "treehouse" design, up on a hill off a secluded street and behind a lot of foliage. They're not on the beach, but offer gorgeous views of the valley from a lovely deck, and a lot of privacy. And cheap, for the island - the small one was about $80/night.

Check out Villa Flamenco Beach. 787-742-0023. It is directly on the beach, has six apartments and rents by the week.

Check Villa Boheme, not very close to Flamenco, but one of the best choices, to stay... low maintenance, full community kitchen, and good prices.
