We are 3 couples booked to stay at Culebra Beach Villa in January 2006. Any one been there lately (this summer or fall)? If so, what might we expect? We are prepared for limited hot water, mosquitos, great beaches, rugged terrain, lots of sun, fantastic snorkeling and a truly laid back vacation. Any other information would be greatly appreciated.

Hot water is limited to just water... As long as you have water you'll have it hot too.
I have heard good reviews about Culebra Beach Villas, you'll need a car to buy groceries, or at least the PUBLICOS.
All other you are just right.

I've stayed their on 3 occasions. The worst for me is the road that leads to Culebra Beach Villas. You literally have to drive about 5 miles per hour to maneuver the massive holes on the road. If you are willing to overlook that you will be literally feet from onee of the most beautiful beaches in all the world. You don't have any housekeeping or amenities but the beach alone is worth staying their. If you watch television, they do have a few units that have satellite television.

I'm assuming you will be renting a car so do yourselves a favor and take the ride to Zoni Beach which is another majestic beach. From CBV the ride is about 20-25 minutes. Just take the only road that go's North all the way to the end. On a good day you might find 5 to 6 people their. Most locals or tourists don't visit becuae it is on the northern end of the island.
