Tripod rental

Hey folks,

I need your help again. Is there any place on Culebra where I can rent a sturdy camera tripod? Like the fins, a tripod is a hassle to fly with, especially when you're trying to travel light. Appreciate any help on the matter. Thanks.

Chuck

Chuck,

You might want to look at getting a mini-tripod. They are less than 10" long and can easily be packed in your travel bag. I also have a larger lightweight one that is about 18" long. Check Calumet and see what they have.

Actually Culebra Divers might be your one stop equipment place. Walter (the owner of CD) is a professional photographer ... wheter he will rent you his equipment is another matter!

For travelling I think a really good monopod works best - IMHO

Enjoy Culebra!

Chuck,

once you leave the city, I mean NYC or another US city that offers photo equipment rental it is nearly impossible to find places that rent equipment.
Culebra is NOT the place for equipment rental, purchase, repair, etc., even finding film other that the Kodak film of the week is impossible. I have spent many months in Culebra at a time for the past few years, and photograph regularly. I tried processing film nearby (Fajardo and SJ) and now I mail everything back to NYC and order everything from NYC...

Even in Vienna, Austria which is a mega city in Europe, when I tried last summer to rent photo equipment for a shoot, I was insulted. They felt offended that I would ask for such a thing rather than buy the equipment outright.

The monopod is a great idea!

Have fun shooting in Culebra
Melanie
