I agree with the point about the trash. I backpack a lot in the Smoky Mountains. I have always made a point of carrying along a trash bag with me in my pack. I pick up as much trash as I can along the way and when I get back I just trhow the bag in a disposal container. On one trip some friends of mine and I found a campsite that was inundated with garbage. Between the 4 of us we carried out 3 large bags full of trash. Also, if you don't have a bag, use a cooler or even your pockets. A little effort among many people goes a long way!
Thanks for the tips. I'll make sure and bring a few trash bags with me on my trip in June.
