oye. this a bit of a loaded question. we just flew on Vieques Air Link. all went well both ways (well, a bit of a delay in arriving, but whatever). we had wanted to rent a jeep in San Juan and ferry over but alas, no ferrys on the weekends. We rented a jeep on island and then we were told there were no reservations left for the week to get over to PR, all booked.
Jokes on us, almost every ferry that left was EMPTY. So, yes, make reservations but go to the dock, you are sure to get on. i wish we found this out earlier, it was several locals that told us before we left.
have a great time, it is a wonderful place in this world.
