Lucy, Ivan and Culebra

Dear Americans in the isle de culebra.

Four years ago you people didn’t wants Abraham (ex major of culebra) because he gave the permits for Costa Bonita, right now you had been convinced by Lucy, to vote against Ivan Romero.

First he got nothings against Americans but you were led to believe he does by Lucy from the dive shop because he wont approve her project even though its bad for the culebrense as a whole. So what does she do!!! She makes up lies about the current mayor hating Americans to change the gringos mind. She asked Abraham if he would become the mayor if he would sign the papers for her project and he promised he would like he did for Costa Bonita.

Lucy be realistic with yourself you know better then anyone else that you are having a suit against the dive shop knowing that you were taking people outside for diving using a person who doesn’t have a captains license. Putting on risk to many people when the first request to run a business for diving you need a certified captain.

Friends of culebra be part of the island, don’t make the island be part of you and see what Ivan Romero has done for our community.

1) A new school
2) A new cistern
3) A new basketball court
4) A new gym
5) A new batting cage for kids at the baseball park
6) A new generator
7) 2 new boats to provide better service
8) A new waterfront
9) A new desalinization plant
10) A new city hall
11) A new amphitheatre
And many other things, in just 4

Remember Ivan romero does't hate gringos this is just the technics lucy and abraham's people wants to use, but if you wants to be part of them vote for abraham but tuesday before you go to vote ask God three times what Ivan have done to you to vote against him . What do you prefer a mayor sitting in an office all week or a mayor working for culebra and you all year

What about having our island torn apart with constrution for over a year and a half. Why didn't someone stand up in the Municipality and stop that insanity?! The construction crew should have worked three shifts a day to get everything done quickly. The only time we ever saw real work being done at a "legitimate" pace was the few weeks before the Governor visited. Also, the contractors should have been forced to take the proper environmental and safety precautions during the course of their work. In addition, during the course of this insanity, no consideration nor communication occured towards the businesses downtown. These businesses took huge losses that they can never make up, no matter what incentives the Government tries to give them. When things were going so incredibly bad, someone should have stood up, stopped the craziness, and made sure things were done right. Even if I heard an apology today saying that certain individuals realize mistakes were made and that if elected, will make sure it doesn't happen again, I would feel better. However, I have yet to hear anything close to this. It was a pure disaster and Luz had nothing to do with spreading any rumors about this. We all saw and experienced it.

Anonimous. I see you have never have try to build a house in culebra everybody knows it takes over a year one house in this case there are three diferents proyects in progress a the same time. the business should not complaint because after they finish they be beneficiated with that renovations in town . but you can see they are just foreigner thinking to make money in culebra like the pizza place and thinking about the progress that culebra has been waiting for years. Culebra never had a mayor with the iniziative and dadication the Ivan has demostrated and also worked to bring it to culebra. don't think looking for the benefits of the foreigners think the culebresnses have been in need of this advance.

READING THE IVAN-LUCY ARTICLE I AM VERY CONCERN ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE WRITE IN THIS FORUM.

I AM A CULEBRENSE AND I DONT APPROVE THIS KIND OF B-----S----.
THATS WHY I HAVE TO SPEAK UP.

DURING ABRAHAM FOUR YEARS OF DISASTER AND HAPPY HOURS AT THE CITY HALL, NOTHING WAS DONE FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR ISLAND.

SPORTS WERE GONE, NO FIESTAS PATRONALES, NO NEW YEARS EVE PARADE OR CELEBRATION AT THE SQUARE.
BUT HAPPY HOURS AT CITY HALL WERE FRECUENT.

NOW OUR MAYOR IS WORKING AND WORKING HARD FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL CULEBRENSES.

LETS BE HONEST AND FIRST OF ALL LETS BE GOOD CULEBRENSES AND LOOK FORWARD INTO THE FUTURE.
IVAN IS WORKING, MR.PEÑA WAS DRINKING AND WE ALL KNOW THAT.

DO I WANT A MAYOR WHO WORKS OR THE OTHER KIND OF MAYOR THAT NOTHING GOOD BRINGS TO OUR SOCIETY.

THINK, THINK, THINK....................BE HONEST.........VOTE IVAN

Let's just invite the Governor to constantly visit so we can get things done here.

There are many people of many cultures, Culebrense, Puerto Rican (mainland that is), Dominican, Swiss, Gringo, etc... in Culebra that are in Culebra to stay and are for the overall well being of Culebra. We may disagree with each other at times but it seems to me that those of us here get along well together and all genuinely want the best for Culebra. Just like there are many people of different backgrounds and cultures together in other parts of the world that want the best for wherever they live. There may be individuals that try to take advantage of Culebra but I submit they are from many different backgrounds, not just one.

I still have yet to hear an apology or a promise not to let the construction disaster that occured on our island repeat itself. No one that I know had an issue with the projects, especially the sewer system. Someone, however, should have made sure it was done right with minimal enviromental, safety, economic, etc... impact.

Here is your captain Lucy... I hold a USCG 100GT license, MROP, APCA, First Aid/CPR.
And for added value I have visitng Culebra in my own boat since 1984.
Have also been trying to obtain a job in Culebra, or to start my own business transporting tourists, and visitors from Fajardo to Culebra.
Unfortunately I do not have a boat now, but as soon as I get another, will consider to get PSC permits and start anew.
I have much experience with divers too, as well as sightseeing.
Another added value is that I have visited USVI & BVI, with some frequency.

Pedro
Most of the gringos down here love culebra and bust ass to make it an even better island. we are not the ones that sell parcelos to the sanjuaneros so that they can come and litter the island on weekends and then go back to the big island. we are the ones that either work hard to make a life for ourselves down here or just quietly retire and spend our time at the beach. Even with the few whiners and moaners i don't see how you can call them vampires. When was the last time you did something for Culebra? Picked up litter? Volunteer with the kids? Helped out with the stray animals? Did something to protect the reef? Until you can say you did something for the island, don't talk badly about the people that do, gringos or culebrense.
thanks

the grengos in culebra don't come to san juan or what, but when the sanjuaneros want to build a house in culebra( part of my country) they don't price me like a sanjuanero the price like foreingner that why we need more people from san juan in culebra we don't need the gringos they need us to keep increasing the puertorrican dead in the war. thanks

It is true I can attest first hand that unfortunately many Puerto Ricans will throw a piece of paper on the sand rather that walking 15 ft. to a trash can. I have had friends visit from Europe and the States and they have gone as far as walking around picking up trash from several beaches I have taken them to. It is not a mystery that Puerto Ricans could use a little more education and have little more conscience about keeping their better natural resources clean. I don't care where you come from as long as you respesct the land you are always welcome.

Dear anonymous 2, Thanks for the kind words about my wife's restuarant
BarbaraRosa's. To set the record straight I do not talk negatively about
Ivan or Abraham. I am concerned about the future of Culebra and in
particular the Culebrense children and young adults. We have lived in
Culebra for over 15 years and have very strong ties in the local community.
I have attended all the meetings from all the parties and have lobbied
for respect for the Culebrense tradition of an open and warm-hearted
community. I am more interested in large public issues such as cruise
ships and open access to beaches. All the North Americans I know have
a deep respect and fondness for the Culebrensans who welcomed us
years ago and will help Ivan, Abraham, Tito, or Luis whoever is elected.

I love Culebra.

Its seems crazy what you can read in here. I'm the kind of person that if I have to say something to somebady regarding their personal thinking I willgo right ahead and tell them in their face not in a web-site.

This a a democratic ( I HOPE) and everybody has the right to express theirself. I think the forum should bee use to increased the view of Culebra Island to the people around the world and the people that live in the Island should "wash their cloths at home". This is not the kind of arguments we need to sell. Our disputes are our and is our problem to solve it.

So if you want to tell something to Luz please go to her shop and let her know, but don't use the forum to do so.
