Where to stay, and how to get around
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hi my boyfriend and I are traveling to Puerto Rico this December. We are planning on being in Culebra the 13 or 14 of December for two nights. I have a few questions b/c I have no idea where to start making no my reservations or plans.
1? Where is a nice place to stay that is cheap (no more than 70$ a night)..We are both college students and are on a budget (hahaha).
2? What is the best way to get around (taxi, bike, )??...We really want to spend the short time we are on culebra snorkeling and by the water...Any suggestions??
3? Last question. We are flying into San Juan....then I was thinking we could just take the ferry ...but if you don't have a rental car yet how do you get from San Juan to the place where the ferry departs for the island??
Thank You for any help@@!!! I need it

First check for hotel La Hamaca, then Villa Boheme, both have A/C, the last one is the one I use and it is beatiful. Both are around 90.00 per night, less than that you may check CULEBRA-ISLAND.COM.
Getting around is easy, there is public transportation 1.00 each ride, there are bicylces and scooters for rent. For skorkeling you may go to Flamenco beach or Zoni beach, or rent a boat for better places.
For the ferry you must get there very early ( around 7:30am) sometimes the ferry gets loaded quickly and you'll lose your ride, there are other rides but you will lose time.
From San Juan to Fajardo you will have to find a taxi, a rental car is not a good option since you cannot take it to Culebra upon arrival. At least one week advance is required to get the car into the cargo ferry.
Or you may fly from Isla Grande airport to Fajardo.
Hope you haave a nice stay, and that my indications are of help.

I took a taxi from San Juan airport to Fajardo about two weeks ago. We were given a slip at the airport taxi stand for a flat-rate ($65 plus tip and a small baggage charge) trip. The trip took about an hour and a quarter, but I think 45 minutes is more typical.
We stayed at Villa Fulladoza and would happily stay there again. There is no A/C, but we were comfortable without it. The location is great, the rooms clean, and the people very friendly.
In case you decide to rent a vehicle on Culebra, we rented a jeep from Jerry (Jerry's Jeeps) and were very happy with it.
Have fun.

To rent a car the best place is Carlos Jeep Rental they have new vehicles and they only charge the rate and ther low insurance no tax or something else..
when you rent a car you have to see what is mandatory after the rate thats the trick when you rent a car.
That was my experience when i rent a car

I am going to Culebra in just under 2 weeks (can't wait) and did a lot of research on accommodations. The cheapest that I found that looked good (actually great, except no a/c), was Villa Fulladosa. It is $65/night and has private bath, A/C, kitchenette. It was booked so I ended up at Villa Boheme, where the cheapest rooms are $95/nt. These are just next to each other and I hear it is about a 8-10 minute walk to town from there. Villa Fulladosa is here: http://www.culebra-island.com/CulebraIsland/Places_to_Stay/Villa_Fulladosa/villa_fulladosa.htm

Good luck!

It's more like 2-5 minutes to walk to town from Villa Boheme.

Happy Diving!

Alahia: Is better to pay for an insurance car, because is better when something occurs you don't have to be worrid about, but you have to think the possibility that something could happens. Everything is Ok until something happens.

I would suggest flying to Culebra from Isla Verde; it will cost you around $100 p/p two way and it takes less than 30 minutes... $65 the taxi, tip and baggage charge, each way (at least one hour drive to Fajardo, depending on the traffic), then hope you get on time for the ferry which takes almost two hours more, depending on the boat (sometimes you get there one hour before and it's already sold out)... if you only have two nights you won't regret spending on the air ticket and getting there as soon as possible!!!
