Culebra in August
Culebra, Puerto Rico

My family and I are planning a vacation to Culebra this year. Two years ago we planned to go camping in July, it was mid week mid month and when we got to the ferry (at 5am!) it was a madhouse. When we didn't get on the first or second ferry we ended camping in Vieques instead. So this year we are shooting for August, the second week. Have the local crowds thinned by then? Is this late enough to avoid the college kids? I love this forum by the way, and thanks for any advice.

My guess is that school is not back in session by then and it'll look like the Jersey shore. I have seen it like that in Aug. Sep. on the other hand, Bingo!

I have vacationed in July and August and things are definitely quieter in August than in July (which is busiest month). Be cautioned though that hurricane and tropical storm activity increases later in August although the weather can be beautiful too.
