Camping Nov-19-Dec 2
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello All,

Ive camped at Playa Flamenco in a couple different times during the year, in March, June and December. I think the worse was December, as it rained all the time and the ocean was almost unswimmable, actually when I was there in December a guy almost drowned in Flamenco. Now I've picked the tail end of November, do you think the Trade Winds or the beach is OK at this time of the year?

Thanks,
SAFARI

Thank you for this link... though this is not really helpful to me, I dont know much about forecasting, what is considered High Wind? I just want to know if November is an OK season. March is the best in my experience to be in Playa Flamenco.

November has not been that windy the past few years I have been there for Thanksgiving. But it totally depends if a front rolls though and how long it persists. Pretty much a crap shoot. Enjoy!

We were in Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving last year and it was pretty much rain rain rain. It didn't matter to us because we were visiting family and not at the beach. But we were thinking about a possible 3-day excursion to Culebra just before Thanksgiving this year. However, I did not take the weather into consideration. Its funny how when you live somewhere where it snows for Thanksgiving you just assume the weather will be perfect in Culebra. I never imagined Flamenco to be almost un-swimmable lol.

I've camped on Flamenco in December (Christmas), March, April and October. December was a good time. The waves were high, but excellent for body surfing. Seemed like it rained lightly about three times during week I was there. Other than that, it was perfect. October happened to be my wettest experience, when a tropical storm in the area was upgraded to a hurricane (talk about excitement). For me, March was perfect. Look forward to going back this year again ;o)
