I'm not a pool shooter, so I'm working from fading memory on this. I'm pretty sure there are pool tables at El Batey and at Happy Landings, next to the airport. I have danced at Mamacita's when the rumba boys played, and also to the jukebox at El Batey.
I think a lot of the hoopla about Mamacita's service (and Dinghy Dock's), is a tempest in a teapot. There are folks who approach everything as if they are the center of the universe, and that the world should jump when they snap their fingers. They will never know the pleasure of leaving stress, frustration and ulcers behind. I love to eat at Tina's, the local creole spot. A couple years ago, when the island was very crowded with vistors, we went by there three nights in a row, only to find that she was out of ingredients to serve dinner. We were disappointed, but we managed to get a great smile from the personable Culebrense bartender who took pride in pulling Presidentes out of the cooler that were so cold they had a block of ice formed around the outside of the bottle. He'd tap them with his opener to be sure they hadn't frozen inside. Every place you go, there are characters to enjoy talking to, and things to see and learn. Had I not been disappointed by Tina's being out of food, I wouldn't have learned that they cook up some fine creole at Happy Landings.
To people who can't be happy unless they have tuxedoed sycophants hovering and attending to every whim. I'd suggest, "Go somewhere else".
