Hi, We are planning our first trip to Culebra. It looks so relaxing. We plan to do a day trip on the 28 or 29 of November. We have read that sometimes tickets for the ferry sell out and to buy them in advance. We are staying in Luquillo. Would our hotel buy them for us or how would we buy them in advance? Should we drive to Fajardo on Friday and get them for Monday? Thanks for any advice anyone can give us. We just want to be sure not to be left behind :)

The ferry situation is very sketchy right now. Would recommend taking a flight from Ceiba. I thinks is ~$35 one way. They may not sell you ferry tix in advance; hit or miss. Plus you could burn 2 hours one way on the ferry getting to Culebra. Flight is 15 min.

Hmm, well we may have to rethink this little side trip. We thought the ferry would be a simple option. We looked at flying but for a one day trip we are not sure the schedules would work out. There doesn't seem to be any flights back in the evening. We read somewhere that there was a high speed ferry from Old San Juan, does anyone know anything about that? So, by sketchy, do you mean it might fill up quickly or that it might not run at all? If it's a matter of filling up, how early do you have to arrive to buy tickets?

I spoke to someone so I know what you mean by sketchy, what a shame. I hope they straighten out the situation and get the ferries running normally again. We will see what happens but if we don't make it to Culebra this time there is always next time. Perhaps we'll plan to stay over night, then flying would be worth it.

Good evening,
Flying is worth it in any situation, but Culebra is definitely worth more than a day. Even an overnight won't provide the time to really relax & enjoy all that Culebra has to offer. Many folks book their entire trip just here on Culebra!

Best,
Terrie
