I am writing because I need advice on on how I could find summer work in Culebra/Vieques.
I am looking to get away from New York for the summer (or longer) and I am trying to find some temp work in Culebra, Vieques or even Fajardo.
I would really love to be a fishing guide/guide assistant, a kayak guide, or be a crew member on a charter boat.
I am an experienced angler, although I have never done this professionally, I am looking for a temporary career change to take a break from what I have been doing for the past 15y.
(I am currently an advertising/publishing creative director.)
Although fishing would be my first choice work wise, I am actually really flexible as to what I do, as long as I find something in the islands.
I have a number of skills that could be useful.
I am passionate about cooking, and have worked as a cook before.
I can clean and be a handy man, a waiter or bus boy.
Here in NY, I have owned a coffee shop so I can also work as a Barista and manager shop manager, as well.
For the past 15years I have been a graphic designer and visual communication specialist, so I have a number of skills related to my career that could work in a lot of situation.
I can and have thought art, computer art, graphic/web design, animation/video/film, photography, computer literacy, computer repairs, etc.
French is my first language so I can be a translator/guide for French speakers.
I am not looking for glamour, or riches, but a place to stay for the summer (even camping would be fine) and enough money to feed myself etc.
Any ideas or suggestions as to how I would go about looking for work over there would be super helpful.
Thank you all in advance for any advice (even if its being direct in telling me there is no work over there.)
