Killing time in San Juan
Culebra, Puerto Rico

We will arrive at SJU at 12:30pm and have an Air Flamenco flight to Culebra from Isla Grande at 4:30pm. Does anyone have a suggestion of somewhere to stop in between airports to kill some time? My husband has never been to San Juan and I haven't seen anything in that area except Old San Juan. We hope to spend part of a day in Old San Juan after we return from Culebra. Thanks for any ideas...

I would recommend you grab a bite to eat at SJU, pick up your luggage and catch your cab to IG. They quite possibly will put you on an earlier flight. Or, you might get a bite to eat at IG. The sooner I could get to Culebra, the better. Happy travels.

Unfortunately, there isn't really much time to do something. By the time you land at 12:30 & get your bags & then take a taxi to the Isla Grande airport it will likely be 1:30ish. With traffic in San Juan you don't really want to venture too far & then arrive late for your 4:30 VAL flight.

You are supposed to be over at Isla Grande by 3:30 for your plane. There also likely won't be another flight leaving in between (there is a Flamenco Air at 1, which you couldn't have made anyhow, but normally not another VAL).

There is a very small place to eat at Isla Grande, but I'd recommend just bringing a snack & a good book & knowing you'll soon be in Culebra!

What I do is stop by the Playita bar and grill in Isla Verde. It is 5 minutes by cab from SJU, on Calle Amapola. I've never had a cab driver not know it. It is an outdoor tiki-type place with pina coladas made from freshly cut coconuts (rum and coconut water, too - "you can't get it in America!"). They make a fine cheeseburger in paradise, and the view is over Isla Verde bay, where a sharp eye can catch the resident manatees surfacing, if the $*^$)@#! jetskis aren't trying to annihilate them. Buffet, Puerto Rican Salsa and Sinatra on the jukebox. Very pleasant.
