Henry's publico: 787-632-9600
They are both frequently mentioned within the forum and they have good references and have provided good service. They range from $65-80. Happy travels! J

Even though you will be over the weight limitations, you can still take the plane - you just have to pay extra per pound.

Yes Debbie, believe it was 40 something cents extra per pound. I paid LOTS for our flights!! I also would recommend Henry, with the # listed above. He was wonderful to work with. He charged $80 for the 3 of us. We ended up giving him $100 with the heavy luggage. We brought our scuba gear too, but next time will bring our snorkeling gear and our reg/computers and will get the bc from Tazz or Culebra Divers.

In my experience, the airlines don't always weigh your luggage. If the plane isn't full, sometimes they don't care.

But worst case scenario is you pay 40 cents per pound, which would only amount to $40 for an extra 100 pounds. Not bad at all.

They weighed our luggage each time and the planes were never full. They also weighed each person's luggage on the flight.

Then definitely we can't count on being lucky.

Probably if someone shows up with a lot of luggage and equipment, they'll be weighed and charged.

When I flew, I traveled with a more typical amount of luggage. When we had our camping stuff, we took the ferry. By the way, per the ferry's rules, they could have charged us extra for all our bags, but they didn't. The ferry was barely 20% full. Ah, the off season is great!

Today, I booked some flights with Air Flamenco and the new overweight charge is $.60 per pound. R/T airfare from Isla Grande to Culebra is now $105.

The taxis to Fajardo are looking like a better and better deal these days compared to the airplanes, considering that the plane fares have gone up and that the luggage surcharge is being regularly enforced.

And the ferry is a fun experience... definitely an integral part of Culebra.

I don't understand why people have such trouble reaching Air Flamenco. I called two weeks ago, at several times during the day, checking travel times and availability before finally booking. I got a live person every time. I called maybe 4 times over two days. These are the numbers I used (from their website). 787-724-1818 / 787-721-7332

We made up our minds to fly over and drive back. I got Air Flamenco on the first try. As a matter of fact on the second and third as I had additional questions.

One way is $60.00 and the excess weight charge over 25 lbs is still .60 per pound.

John

Be careful driving back, Blackburn. The water is quite deep in places! Bwahahahahaha.
