Going to Culebra for a day next week...

Hi! I am thinking about visiting Culebra next week just for a day at the beach. Was thinking around July 9 (Wednsday). How early do I really need to be at the ferry dock in Fajardo? I am from Barranquitas so I know how the lines get around here in PR : ) Thanks in advance!

Since you'll be leaving mid-week, I'm thinking an hour at the most...good luck and enjoy your time on Culebra.

Actually, the ferries have been VERY full-mid-week as well as on weekends. We had guests unable to get on the 9am yesterday as it was full. Thus, if you can do more than an hour ahead, all the better.

I would recommend you get there very early, I tried to take the ferry today (tuesday) and arrived there at 0600 and it was full before I arrived at the ticket counter.

Hola! You might want to try having someone purchase your ferry tickets, that way you have that squared away but, arrive early anyway for assured passage on the ferry. You can also try calling the Port Authority in Fajardo to purchase your ferry tickets over the phone paying with a credit card: 787-801-0250, 0251, Ext. 221,222,230,234. Try calling repeatedly in the morning from 8 AM - 11 AM and in the afternoon 1-3 PM. July is a very busy month for puertorricans visiting family on the island and also for the locals traveling and vacationing within PR. Happy travels! J
