You know, Mr. Rice, I never thought about how different the "ex-pats" behave on Culebra as compared to other islands (let's face it - other locations - it doesn't just happen on islands), but you are dead-on! The Culebrense and the come-latelys do get on better than other places I've visited. They work cohesively together to preserve what they appreciate, and there seems to be no "us" and "them." It is refreshing, isn't it?

Ambergris Caye has a bit of a beach - long and narrow, and you can walk to and from restaurants on it. The beach is broken in half by a rather wide inlet; water taxis will take you to the other side of the inlet. It's not a bad beach, but not as great as some others I know. When we stayed there (on the beach), we walked right from our room to the boat dock to dive. That was great!
