Miami Herald mentions Isla Culebra.com

They did a study on how to use the web to plan your trip - would have been silly not to mention us .. I think the paper media slowly realizes the www exists and not only that, that they better embrace it .. about time!

Enjoy Culebra!

Laughing...and yet they didn't include gotoculebra.com - they must not yet be google savvy for every bit of the good stuff! Silly indeed!

Well I am not sure whether it's a question of google savvy or simply not. Most likely they did a search similar to this:

http://www.google.com/search?q=culebra+pr

which would not yield the additional sites MJ is talking about. Now the question is whether to blame google or the people who make the websites (or have them made) that they do not show for this and other Culebra related searches.

Which searches do you suggest MJ?

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael,

Similar to your response to Maynard, do a google search for culebra + forum.

Hell if I know, Michael, I live here and don't do those searches ;)
I just know between this one and that one there is some good solid info and some fun solid info to be found out about Culebra. It all works. I just figured any google search on Culebra would eventually turn up both?
But what do I know? I'm just a lowly Culebra resident and purveyor of "stuff" here.
The thing I love most? that we are hard to find, hard to get to, and if you actually do get here, you must really want to be here! That's good enough for me. ;)

Debbie,

good one ;)

MJ, that's what I thought, that's why I mentioned it.

Actually I read a statistic, where 30%!!!!of the people answered whether they used google, 'no I do not have it on my computer' ... that's the real story out there.

Just because we spend a considerable amount of time in front of these things, doesn't mean they are mainstream!

let's hit the beach!

Enjoy Culebra!

Yes....I definitely should try to equalize the time spent here to time spent on the beach ;) Good idea!

erm...but how do people using the interent not use google??? It is one of the most amazing components of the internet!!!! We used to play a game, years ago, Stump the Google...I think we only managed to once (and this was many MANY years ago) find a subject that google had no info on. And no, I don't remember what it was. But for the insatiably curious types like myself (especially if you don't have an up to date library around) google is a godsend.

They use AOL, Yahoo, MSN or whatever search engine their browser is defaulted to. They assume that the default search engine "came with their computer", not realizing that they can set their browser to default to any search engine they wish.

But I imagine that just about all these people are over the age of 30. It would be rare to find an under-30 that doesn't know what Google is and how to access it.

MJ,

Have you seen that you can now personalize your google home page (interestingly enough, dubbed igoogle)? It's sweet - you can have a tab for google maps (yes, those of us in the States need maps to get around), language, finance, sports, etc. Input any word you want for a tab, and it will return random crap based on that word. Surprise, surprise, I have a tab called scuba, which returned a couple of articles on diving, but doesn't change much every day.

Happy Diving!
Debbie

I haven't seen that...they do new stuff all the time...but what I DO like is the google alerts. I have them on musician friends, stuff here, friends in the states...and everything shows up, news articles, blogs, etc. You can choose daily weekly monthly alerts...it's great! Google is going crazy, but I like it.
I love maps...but obviously...don't need much here. But for the states (or places in the world one might visit), way cool!

I hope all of you are taking advantage of the RSS feed for this forum, which you can add to your google or any other home page (yahoo msn etc) for that matter!

It's the little orange icon on the top and you right click on it, copy the link and the insert it where they ask you to 'add stuff' ..

Enjoy Culebra!
