Culebra-Vieques day trip (possible?)
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Hello Everyone,

I know this question is redundant, but I did spend some time researching before I posted. I need some info on a possible day trip to Vieques. Here goes:

1. Has anyone ferried Culebra-Fajardo-Vieques-Fajardo-Culebra in one day? Was it worth it?

2. Any round trip same day flight info Culebra-Vieques?

3. Is there currently a ferry between Culebra and Vieques?

3. Water taxi info?

4. Can I swim to Vieques from Culebra?

Any information is highly appreciated. Thank you!

you'd better be a very strong swimmer... (something like 10+miles)

flights are available if you can get through on the phone - it seems like almost every time we've made an unannounced stop on Vieques. I think they generally don't publish rates as there's not a lot of demand for C to V and back.

Its viability as just a day trip is the question, the ferry would take forever, the airport is not as central and from what I understand, the best beaches are fairly remote.

It looks very nice but I can't help but feel it's worthwhile only if you want a little more, but not too much "bustle".

Did you actually want to see the islands, or do you just like riding the ferry? Doesn't sound like you've have time to do anything what with all the travel time.

Happy Diving!

We were just in Culebra 2 weeks ago and had the same questions b/c we would really have loved to see the bioluminescent bay at Vieques. But since we would have to see the bay at night we realized the only way it would be possible was to spend the night in Vieques. So we decided to wait until next time and plan to stay our last night in Vieques and then get the ferry back to Fajardo from there. It would be much easier if there were a direct ferry from Culebra to Vieques, but it's just too much travel time otherwise and for us the flight was just a bit too pricey. Curious to know what you figure out.
