Ride from SJU to Fajardo late January
Culebra, Puerto Rico
Author: Michael Fischer (---.hsd1.in.comcast.net)
Date:   01-03-08 10:12

Greetings,
I am looking for a ride from SJU airport to Fajardo in time for the ferry to Culebra on Jan 19, maybe 20 or 21.
Will this be easy? I have read the thead on this, and still not clear on the simple summary.
I welcome your help in making it simple for me, and I welcome offers to drive me from SJU to Fajardo.
Muchos Gracias,
Miguel

The simple part may become easy when you know when you are actually coming here...but then, I'm wacky that way.

I second MJ; Once you know the date, put it in the title of a new post and you shall get a better response!

Enjoy Culebra!

Michael and MJ,
Muchos Gracias for your replies.
I will fly into SJU at 2:30 on Thurday Jan 17.
My return is a departing flight from SJU on 3:20 on Tuesday Jan 29.

I have reached the people at Vieques Air link. They quoted me $98 round tirp. (plus a $20 cab ride from Luis MuNo Marin to Isla Grande )

I would enjoy just as much a freindly road trip (Estoy apprendiendo hablar y escribir Espanol) and the Fajardo ferry sounds great.

I have not reserved the Air Link part, but the woman at Puerto Rico Tourism 1 800 866 7827 estimated the cab ride from SJU to Fajardo at $70 one way. That is what sent me on to the Air Link shopping.

I would be just encantada hacer un commercio (trade) for services:
I am a yoga teacher, massage therapist, alternative health teacher and I was a computer programmer for the last 30 years.
Also a possible English as a second language, but I suppose you have plenty of that in your area.

Make me an offer: I would hope to trade almost one for one: an hour of my time for an hour of yours, but I am negotiable.
I will be spending my time at the ashtanga8 yoga retreat:
http://www.ashtanga8.com/
And I expect to have much free time on the trip.
And I am willing to pay cash for the ride, too.

Gracias,
Vaya con Dios, O Whatever works for you,
Miguel

If you can't find a direct ride, take a publico. (I'm sure you can find similar posts here on how it's done).

Get to the 'Terminal de Autobus' in Rio Piedras to get the publico to Fajardo. Wait around for the publico to fill up, this can take a while, but your on vacation, so use the time to 'hablar espanol'. I'm not exactly sure, but the ride should cost you about 4-8 dollars, somewhere in there. Waiting for it to fill up with other people is the key.

Have great ashtanga fun!

Will the publico get me from SJU around 3pm to Fajardo in time for the ferry at 7 pm?
Thanks again,
Miguel

Dear Miguel:
Me and my good friend Patty shall be arriving at San Juan International at 4:10 PM (also on Thurs, Jan 17). We were planning on getting a taxi from there to Fajardo to catch the 7:00PM ferry to Culebra. From there we'll go to the campground at Flamenco Beach.

If you are willing to wait for us at the airport for an hour or two, we could share the cost of the taxi from there to Fajardo (should be about $25 per person assuming taxi is $75 total).

Let me know if you're interested.

Detlef
