Butch was a pleasure to deal with and the boat was in great shape. We did not experience any problems with the boat or staff. It's was awesome. I visited many beaches that had water so clear you could swear you were in a pool.

We were married this past April in Vieques and did some island hopping around Puerto Rico for two weeks. One of our fondest memories was the afternoon we had on the 16-foot skiff. We "set sail" for Culebrita and hiked to the top where the old Spanish lighthouse beckoned. We did some great snorkeling around the island before we headed across the way to the other side of Culebra. We did some snorkelling at two of the other smaller islands before making our way back to Culebra, but not before stopping and going into the shallows where many sailboats were anchored and men were fishing. We were most impressed with Culebrita but also look forward to returning and checking out the 40-foot "wall" that is just off Culebra near the Flamenco Beach campground.Butch and his assistant were great...friendly, accomodating and made the whole thing very easy.We recommend him to all!

We rented the 16' skiff with the 40 hp engine. It was one of the better decisions we made on the island.Butch runs a first class operation and reviews safe boating operating procedures for boating safely in Culebra.Butch includes many redundant safety precautions which made operating the boat extremely easy and safe.We ran around the Ensenada Honda area and the west side of the island. The boat made it possible to visit several locations where we moored and snorkeled. It was a fabulous trip and one we will make again. Thanks for being in business so we could rent from you.

what a great little day boation out to culebrita.
the girl and i snorkeled and swam and had a nice picnic.
butch walked me through the operation and what to watch out for, then went over the map with plenty of detail even including a cell phone that had the boat house on speed dial if anything went wrong.
really, just a great day!!!

Renting a boat from Butch for 2 days was the highlight of our trip to Culebra. The sea was kinda rough the week we were there making it hard to snorkel from shore in some places. Snorkeling from the boat at Punta Soldado and Melone's was so great! The boat had a great ladder for easy access and it was in perfect condition. I highly recommend renting a boat from Culebra Boat Rentals.

Just returned from Culebra. If you have not visited before, be sure to plan a boat rental from Butch and Jackie. The island has very few good roads, and you can see it all in one day if you rent a jeep, but you won't be able to enjoy the island until you see it by boat. The best beaches are remote beaches at Luis Pena and Culebrita, accessible only by boat, and snorkeling is so much better off the back of a boat, rather than swimming out from the beach. We rented the 18 foot V-hull, which is handy if there is wind, and the boat ran flawlessly.Butch, Jackie, and their dog Cocoa are nice folks from Minnesota who really helped us to have a great vacation. They even do little extras like present you with a terrific 8 x 10 of you leaving the dock in the boat.Great momento. We highly recommend you rent a boat from them to make your vacation a memorable one.

We had an awesome time with our Boston Whaler!I booked with Butch the day before we arrived on Culebra and I was very happy that we were able to get a boat for the day on such short notice! The boat was well equipped and the safety features such as the on-board cell phone were unexpected but welcomed! We did not have any problems with the boat or anchoring, etc.I will be back again in December 2006 and will stay a couple of nights on Culebra instead of only a day trip and the boat rental is a must for my two days! I will be going back to Culebrita!

Renting the Skiff was the best thing we've ever done on vacation. We went to the most amazing, deserted beaches and had the most amazing snorkeling. Captain Bryan and I will surely be back to Culebra and will rent the boat for the entire time! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very nice staff, fast and handy boat and beautiful snorkeling sites but lack of restroom at the rental.
We had the 40hp for a day on Culebrita and went into the open ocean. Scarry but really beautiful. After getting used to the depth map we enjoyed. We went to Culebrita and snorkeling on and between Melones Point and Carlos Rosario. We come back!

We rented a motorboat on our February trip to Culebra. It was a great experience. We rented from Butch at Culebra Boat Rental ( Casa Ensenada) for 2 days. Had an 18' v-hull, 40 hp; clean, comfy. Good price. We had 4 adults and it was perfect. Has a ladder, cooler, bimini top, cell phone. Snorkeling off the boat was so easy and awesome. Went over to Culebrita. We highly recommend it!

Very good experience. I rented the 18 foot 40hp boat. Renting a boat opens possibilities that are not available with a land vehicle. I had my family with me and we visited Luis Peña, Carlos Rosario, Melones, and Dakiti. The staff at Culebra Boat Rental was very friendly and helpul. I plan on renting again in July.

Don't leave Culebra without renting a boat, or you'll miss the best part of the island. We (my wife & I) rented Butch's 18' vee bottom boat for a week, and had a blast visiting the nearby islands. We snorkeled and fished every day.It was beautiful. We snorkeled off Luis Pena, Culebrita, Carlos Rosario, and Tamarindo.Don’t miss Carlos Rosario.Butch and Jackie are great folks who genuinely care about their customer's experience. We've rented lots of boats on many vacations, and we're avid power boaters, used to our 24' pilothouse style deep vee.Beforehand we were a little anxious about what to expect from an 18-foot rental on the big water.Butch had the most comprehensive checklist and set of instructions that we've ever seen. He's a wealth of local knowledge along with being a great guy.The boat ran without a hiccup all week, part of which we had 4 people on board, as some friends stopped in.We had an unusually windy week according to all sources, and had no problem getting out either on one side of the island or the other. We especially enjoyed the freedom and seclusion from the groups on the commercial snorkel boats, not that it’s very crowded mind you.In fact the whole boating experience was not crowded, much to our delight.Butch provides the high level of service that we’re used to in the states. We would surely rent the same boat from Butch again.

On our first of 6 days renting from CBR we experienced engine problems as a result of contaminated fuel.Having rented boats at various vacation destination before - and witnessing the lack of service & maintenance that often occurs at these places, not to mention overall neglect - I figured we were in for a long and frustrating week.I couldn't have been more wrong!Butch had us back on the water within hours of the initial problem and we operated trouble free for the remainder of the week. The boats were well maintained, easy to operate, and contained all of the necessary safety equipment.I would highly recommend Culebra Boat Rentals to anyone visiting the Island.Having a boat will provide you with many opportunities to explore areas that otherwise would not be accessible, e.g. the many islands/beaches/flats/reefs etc...it will truly add another dimension to your vacation.

Last week we spent an overnight on Culebra and stayed at Casa Ensenada (Pequeno). We wished we had stayed a week or two. We flew on Vieques Air from Fajardo arriving at 7 am. The staff was outstanding, seamlessly checking us in at the early hour, familiarizing us with the rental boat (Culebra Boat Rental) and island, and recommending local dining establishments (another vote for Barbara Rosa's). We spent the next two days exploring beaches and snorkeling the reefs of the west coast by 16' skiff, we saw turtles, rays, lobster, teeming fishlife, and some of the largest and healthiest coral we have ever seen. Carlos Rosario was the highlight. The sheltered west coast was easily accessible from Ensenada through the channel so it was a smooth ride, easygoing vacay. A gas station on the channel had ice for the large cooler provided on the rental boat. The Pequeno room was clean and as-advertised; perfect for our needs as we packed light breakfasts and sandwich lunches from the big island. Culebra locals were very friendly, Carlos (Carlos Jeep Rental) was kind enough to give us a lift from the airport and freely gave advice and inside info on Culebra as well as where we were staying in Fajardo. All in all a great experience.

We rented a 16 foot skiff for 5 days and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to see a different side of culebra, anyone looking to do some fishing, or anyone with an adventurous spirit. If you're going for the fishing, I highly recommend trying to familiarize yourself with the area and recommended fishing spots (and tides!) before getting the rental. As well, if there's any significant wind and/or surf (15-20mph) I strongly recommend getting a v-hull boat as a skiff in those conditions is extremely limiting.

We rented the 16 40hp skiff for 3 days. The skiff ran great and we visited Culebrita, Luis Penya, and explored the harbor and the east side of the bay. It was also a nice touch visiting the Dinghy Dock by boat.

What a pleaseure it was to rent a boat from Butch. It was solid, with an engine that started on the first or secound attempt - every time! It never faltered or gave us reson for concern. The ladder was perfect and even my 82 year old mother went for a swim. We explored, swam and snorkeled in the most secluded and beautiful places imaginable. We hit some pretty heavy weather a few times and cruised with confidence - Thanks Butch - great time on the water. Note to others: Water on the water, beer on the pier.

I just came from Culebra last week and stayed at Casa Ensenada. This is a great place with an excellent view. The owners, Jackie and Butch, are great hosts. We rented the "Pequeno" which is more than enough for 2 people. It comes equipped with everything you need for your stay. They also have a BBQ, tables, chairs etc.. outside for everyone to use.We also rented a boat from them and we had a blast. We are definitely staying here when we go back. Our favorite place to eat was the Dinghy Dock.

The smartest thing we did on Culebra was renting a boat from Butch! I wish we had not even bothered with a car! Next time we will skip the car and rent a boat for the week...As someone else said, Culebra is great from the island, but from the water it is astonishing! A great outfit, boat was well-maintained, and the freedom it gave us made our trip outstanding...thanks, Butch!

Culebra by land is cute, but by boat it is wonderful. We would not have seen the private coves, untouched corals, and had access to great fishing but for having our "own" boat. We thought to rent for one day, but kept the boat for all five. Butch was extremely helpful, and his boats very well maintained. This is the way to get away from it all.

We rented the 40HP skiff for the day. Butch and his wife were patient, informative and helpful. When we return to Culebra, we intend to stay "in town" and rent a boat for half of the week instead of a vehicle. We used the boat to fish, sightsee and find secluded beaches. The boat was adequate for the "boating" we were doing. Keep in mind that short shower bursts show up out of no where and leave as quickly. We were glad that we had some light jackets and wind pants during those events as it got pretty chilly...even in 83 degree weather! If you are going to fish...bring your own equipment. We could not find any fishing equipment to rent even though there were advertisments to the contrary. We plan to return to Culebra and will rent a boat from Butch again in 2003!

I visit Culebra every year, but this was different.Culebra is beautiful, but it becomes a whole new place when you rent a boat.I rented a boat from Culebra boat rental. I visited many beaches that had water so clear you could swear you were in a pool. This beaches were secluded and the only way to reach them was by boat. The service was exelent, Butch took some time to tell us which beaches to visit and explained how to get there.Next time I visit Culebra I,m definitely renting a boat.

We rented a power boat for the day from Butch and the experience was a great one. We visited Culebrita, Cayo Norte, and Loius Pina. One needs to keep in mind that you are in the middle of the Ocean in a small boat and to select your boating outings on calm days. Given that, the viewing and diving opportunities are excellent around Culebra. We did not experience any problems with the boat or staff. We had a blast and will be back down ASAp to do it again.
